vestimentum
Vestments
The special garments worn for the liturgy — the alb, stole and chasuble for the priest at Mass — whose colour changes with the season or feast.
clothing
At Mass the priest wears a white alb (Latin albus, “white”), a stole around the neck as the sign of his ordination, and over both a chasuble (from casula, “little house”), the outer garment whose colour follows the liturgical calendar: white for Easter, Christmas and most feasts; red for the Passion, Pentecost and martyrs; violet for Advent and Lent; green for Ordinary Time; rose may be used on two Sundays a year. The deacon wears a dalmatic and his stole across the shoulder.
